Well friends and family, you all knew this day would come, Poohbear turned 40. She finally joined her husband and two of her siblings in their 40's. She's taking it quite well. She didn't even ask for the senior discount at Denny's.(cuz it was free on her birthday)Yes we did. It's hard to not take advantage of that free birthday meal. So, we hit it for lunch and then used Britt's gift cards she sent for Fathers day and Kathy's birthday and ate dinner at Olive Garden. We both had the eggplant Parmesan, and it was wonderful. I must say, Olive Garden does a good job at making a vegetable look and taste almost meat-like. Woohoo, what a bonus! Anyways, we are all alone still so the day was pretty quiet overall. Most of the kids and Kathy's siblings, Mom and good friend all called and that made her day even more special. Being an observer, I could tell really made her happy. THANKS!! Anyways, I attempted to make her favorite cake,(yellow with fudge frosting) it's in one of the pictures in the slide show. The cake turned out good, but I missed a step in the preparation of the frosting, but it was edible. She also got a poster with a little diddy using candy in the sentences, some balloons and of course some gag gifts. We'll do something a little bigger when we have a little more $$. Well, I hope she had a good day and know that if it is measured by her full tummy and thoughtful phone calls then she most definitely did.

Past months activities
As you might can tell from the last picture posting, this last blog update is being done by Ed. And yes, I think I'm retarded. I can't seem to get anything to work right so please bear with my illblogeracy(lack of blogger abilities. Anyways, the pictures are from some of our activities we've had this past month. First, the Sunday before Memorial Day we decided to go camping for the night at a nice spot that our Ward goes to for the Father and Son outing called Patricks Pond. Ed,Justin and Steve Had just been up there the weekend before. Kathy had never been and we were ready to get out of the heat. So we loaded up the van(Kodda included) and Justin drove us the whole 2-hour trip. He did a fine job! When we got there, we were suprised to see that we were pretty much all alone. We pitched our tents and built a fire and just enjoyed being in the cool mountains. Kodda seemed to love being able to run free. Kathy started with him on a leash, then she just decided to let him run loose and he never ran off. Ed and Justin played catch with a baseball and football. Kodda loved being the monkey in the middle. We then sat around the fire and read for a while. We roasted hot dogs and had chili dogs and later some smores. AHHH, nothing like cooking over and open fire. When we went to bed, we had to make sure and wrap ourselves tight, because it was cold. The breeze blew through the pine trees all night long. The next morning we had fried potaoes, eggs and sausage. It seems to always taste so much better when you cook outdoors. We then just lazied around the rest of the morning and left for home. We decided to return as much as possible to enjoy it again.
Next we celebrated Justin's 16th birhtday with him going on his first "Official" date with Sammi. After she came over and "Heart attacked" his room,(Threw little paper hearts all over his room) She and Justin went out to dinner and a movie. Justin drove and Ed layed in the back like he wasn't there. Ed picked them up when they called and repeated the routine to give them the feeling of being on a date totally by themselves. They seemed to have a good time.
And lastly, yesterday Kathy spoiled me on Father's day since it was the first time I have been without kids on this day in 24 years(since Britt was 6 months old). Justin is visiting his Dad so we are presently empty-nesters. Kind of strange, but Kodda is sure getting spoiled. Anyways, Kathy made me crepes with strawberries, raspberries, bananas and real whipping cream for breakfast. She gave me a gift bag(pictured) with all kinds of goodied including some fake lottery tickets with coupons for different things written on the back,ie. Foot rub, Moviethone, yada, yada, yada. She made me steak for lunch and then we started the movies. Throughout the day all the kids called,(some I missed) but it was nice to hear from them and feel and know of their love. Such good kids! Well, that about catches us up for the month. We'll try and do better next time.
